Wood Chips Are Great For The Garden, But Don't Compost THIS Kind!

Wood chips are a cheap and effective material for creating compost & healthier soil. But there are some types of wood that you need to watch out for, like the one I show you in this video. I live in Orlando Florida and I have this vine and lots of green bullet grapes. I bought the vine about 10 or 15 years ago and planted it! It's all up in Japanese plum tree. They are ready since last month July or May be before I'm no sure because I wasn't watching it, I just happened to see them from limbs hanging low. But the vine is full. The birds enjoy them too. They're so delicious and absolutely good for you. Resveretrol is in them and other grapes too. So I didn't know that I could swallow the seeds and I use to eat the inside and spit out the rest. So, I read on line about them. So glad I planted so long ago. Enjoying them every year now. Thanks for your video! Some people never heard of them. Have a great day! Enjoy!

My understanding is that coffee grounds are considered a 'green' in compost. Meaning they are a source of nitrogen in the same way as grass clippings etc. The cardboard, paper or leaves are a 'brown' meaning they are a carbon source.

Being a worm be like: “They put me in a circular prison, and we crawl out of our own poop, bud we just keep crawling, we sometimes see the light bud then we’re locked back in, and sometimes, they even take some of us, no one has came back, and they steal our poop? WHY!

I'm no till & use wood chips on the paths between 4' wide growing beds. They get a 2" layer every year, whilst the beds get 1" of my own compost. Interestingly, the wood chip disappears about as fast as the compost. The other point of note is I've found brassicas prefer to root into the paths rather than the beds, so there must be something coming from the decomposed wood chips which is of particular benefit.

"The fungus is amongus!". All kidding aside, thanks for the tip. I bought a self powered chipper years ago that will handle a 4" softwood limb, no problem because I own a piece of property that is partially uncleared timber and I wanted to put some of the dead fall to good use. I also compost, huge pile, for my vegetable garden. I live in Matagorda County Texas and I am chipping all of the pecan and live oak mess in the aftermath of hurricane Beryl. It's got a lot of leaves so I needed info about composting all of it . Thanks

Andrew - Thank you for this video. I noticed someone mentioned the strength of your pump. I watched a channel from the Urban Worm Company (Steve Churchill - owner & Troy - the tea expert) and they stated that your air pump should produce at least 5 litres per minute of air output for a 5 gallon container. Also, a brew creates bacteria and fungi. The bacteria feed the protozoa. Also, 3 cups of worm castings, 1 TBSP of fish hydrolysate and 1 TBSP of humic acid per 5 gallon container to promote fungal activity. Also, never use an air stone because it is VERY difficult to clean properly which can create anerobic bacteria in your next brew. Have a blessed day Andrew! Anthony

Ahhhh sunchokes.... the love I may divorce... delicious, very healthy, a beautiful plant and easy to grow... BUT EXTREMELY INVASIVE. I have planted them in the ground and they spread like wildfire, even went out of the garden bed and under my driveway and destroyed some of it. So I am now trying to kill that area, first with herbicide and now smothering with 4 layers of thick plastic construction tarp covered with mulch... basically smothering them, we shall see how that goes. No you cannot just dig them up, impossible.... you will not get all the tubers. I am trying pots now, big pots, but they grow so fast I think the pots will crack open soon. I like this persons method, I think I just planted too many at once.... will try his plant one and harvest later.... good luck, let me know your method.
